Challenge Prep Homework: Kombucha Inventory – How Much Do I Need?

Welcome to the 30 Day Kombucha Challenge! We are going to have an awesome time together on this journey that begins with a single sip. Of course, the most important tool we will need is, well, Kombucha!

If you are still waiting for your homebrew to be ready or are completely new to Kombucha, then grab a bottle or two from the store. There are many great brands to choose from in a wide range of flavors. Select a variety of brands if you are new (or not so new!) to Kombucha so you can experience the different degrees of tanginess and tastes of our beloved brew.

Some brands are raw & unpasteurized (find those in the fridge), others are made from concentrate or may be pasteurized or sterile filtered for shelf stability. No matter which brand(s) you choose, remember to go at your own pace.

First, we’ll need to determine how much Kombucha to have on hand at the start of the Challenge. We want to have enough booch handy to replace your favorite beverage. If that’s coffee or soda or an energy drink, simply notice how many ounces you consume per week and then buy enough bottles of Kombucha to meet that demand.

HOW MUCH TO DRINK

If you are totally new, you might want to limit yourself to 4oz in the morning on an empty stomach. Those who are more acclimated may drink 8-16oz or more per day. Typically we don’t want more than 16oz in a sitting and most find 8-12oz is plenty. Here is a video to guide you through the basic rule of thumb for how much to drink.

And in case you were wondering, can you drink too much Kombucha?
