Materials Suitable for Brewing Kombucha

Stainless Steel that is 304 grade and higher is corrosive resistant and commonly used in beer, wine, vinegar and Kombucha brewing industries but it can be expensive.

Many commercial brewers start out in food grade plastic containers because they are more cost effective and then upgrade to SS when they can afford it. Over time, the plastic containers will stain and get brittle as the constant contact with the low pH of Kombucha will degrade it over time.

Glass is a fabulous, inert material that is cumbersome or labor intensive. Like the plastic, it can also degrade over time making the vessels more prone to breakage.
